Cycle 4 Recycle are two Bulgarian environmentalists who are biking across every country in The Americas to hold discussions about environmentalism, consumerism, and global consciousness. Catch their presentation here at Boneshaker Books on Saturday, 09/26, from 6:00-8:00 pm.

The Cycle 4 Recycle team members are Vyacheslav Stoyanov and Yana Melamed, from Sofia, Bulgaria, who are united by their interests in reducing pollution, preventing depletion of natural resources and also creating safe cycling infrastructure to encourage greater use of bicycles.

Since May 27th, 2015, they have undertaken the “Cycle Americas” cycling expedition. Starting from Deadhorse, Alaska, the expedition will go through all countries in North and South America until it reaches its end in Tierra del Fuego, Usuaia, Argentina in the spring of 2017.

During this long expedition the team will alternate between urban and rural/wilderness areas. They will meet people of different nationalities and cultures, and will use these interactions to understand their attitudes, approaches, and actions towards the environment. By approaching these conversations on a one-to-one basis, they can show people from all across the Americas that preservation of the environment is not simply work for organizations, it is an ongoing social movement - and it starts with you.

The higher goal of this expedition is to try and unite different nationalities and cultures hoping for everyone to start taking care of each other and to together cherish our common home – the planet. Vyacheslav and Yana know that it does not matter where you are from, but how wide your eyes are open for the world. All great things are accomplished by small people.
