Liberation Cabaret - Sep 26

Daring the world to live up to its promise to abolish war in 1928, Minnesota artists will show that a world without war is possible. As part of TEN DAYS FREE FROM VIOLENCE (see, Abolish War in Our Lifetime promotes the culture of the new abolitionists, those dedicated to a world without war.
They will use art, photography, poetry, song, and stories at the third Liberation Cabaret. It is happening at Boneshaker books and 2002 23rd Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55404 at 6:30 PM, on September 26th and is sponsored by the National Writers Union.

Feeding the Resistance with Art
The Sep 26 Liberation Cabaret will include the following artists. Stefan Lovasik, a celebrated poet, author and Vietnam veteran, Chante Wolf, author, photographer and Iraq War veteran, Larry Johnson, storyteller, author and veterans’ activist. Sarah Koper, union poet and organizer, Robbie Orr, writer and reader along with special musical guests.

Liberation Cabaret will provide thought-provoking entertainment. The series will expose the chains that segregate, humiliate and dominate. Instead it will provide ties that bind community together by exposing the bondage of race, gender, class and militarism through humor, story-telling, music and performance art.
As Capt. Paul Chappell has said, “To replace the old paradigm of war with a new paradigm of waging peace, we must be pioneers who can push the boundaries of human understanding. … we must be artists who will make the world our masterpiece.” Chappell, author and peace educator, will speak Sep 27 at 1st Unitarian Church, Minneapolis on waging peace.
