Luke Tromiczak is a Minneapolis based figurative painter and draftsman. A recent graduate from Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Luke received the 2012 Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative grant, and will be attending New York Academy of Art in pursuit of his MFA in fall 2013. Luke's work has been shown in the traveling drawing exhibition, Deseigno 5, the juried Made at MCAD exhibition and has held solo exhibitions around the cities.

With virtuosic realism Luke’s art challenges us to confront our own plain desperation and lonesomeness. In his own words:
"My work deals with the tricky business of human life: abundant, vivacious, persistent, fragile, volatile and cruel. Much of my paintings and drawings owes its genesis to events in my personal narrative ranging from experiencing my first love, to the burial of loved ones, brutal altercations and well wishes in moments of crisis. Through providing the familiarity of domesticity to the setting as a vehicle to explore raw emotions and drives, I urge the viewer to experience a visceral reaction to the work. Viewing the body of work a larger narrative is implicated through repetition of characters and settings providing a tangible environment but denying elucidation."
